I definitely feel for Kobe's surviving family members. As far as basketball goes though, Lebron always has been a better overall basketball than Kobe, even when Lebron was a young player. The only reason Kobe has five rings is because he played for years with Shaq and a prime Pau Gasol. Without those two guys, Kobe would have been just like T-Mac, a volume shooter and high scorer with no rings.

Furthermore, while it is true that Lebron is a trash human being and its easy to hate on him, you can't forget that Kobe was almost as bad as a person. There's a reason why no superstars wanted to go to the Lakers while Kobe was still there in the last couple years of his career. Many sports writers said back in 2016 that the reason the lakers had become a bad team for years to come was because of Kobe and his unwillingness to pass the torch and not be option #1 on his team. The Lakers only became relevant again when Lebron joined the team in 2018, and that lead to them getting Anthony Davis in 2019, which resulted in them winning the 2020 title. As much as we don't like Lebron as a person, he made the lakers relevant again.

I never heard about Kobe ever being a Christian. I just have very vivid memories of what Kobe was like as a basketball player, and I didn't like him as a player. My favorite player from 2005-2012 was Steve Nash when he was winning MVP awards with the Suns. That was a team-first guy that helped countless teammates have their best seasons ever while simultaneously being one of the shooters in NBA History.
